On August 25th, the Support Services Staff at SSSBC organized a Grab & Go Emergency Kit-Making event for the residents of Ross Tower. In collaboration with the City of New Westminster’s Social Planner, Anur Mehdic, and Emergency Management Coordinator, Cory Hansen, they procured and collected emergency supplies to create starter grab-and-go kits for all the residents, including older adults, who are often isolated.
The event took place in the lobby of Ross Tower, where residents assembled their kits while enjoying coffee and snacks. This initiative was made possible thanks to funding from UWBC and the City of New Westminster for the Connect and Prepare program. It not only ensured that all Ross Tower residents were well-prepared for emergencies but also fostered a sense of community unity and support.
