Having just fled an abusive relationship, 63 year old Fatima* was fearful, vulnerable, and unsure of what lay ahead when she visited our office for the frst time. English wasn’t her first language, which made communication difficult at times. But with patience, compassion, and consistency, we built a bridge of trust and understanding.
She needed more than just a roof over her head—she needed to feel safe, heard, and supported. We placed Fatima into temporary housing while we worked together to find her a home where she could begin again.
Today, she’s living in a new home—a space that represents safety, independence, and a fresh start. Alongside emotional support, we were able to assist with practical needs like moving costs and her damage deposit, helping her transition with dignity.
Her journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of trauma-informed care and the critical role of Temporary Housing. It offers more than shelter—it offers a chance to reset, heal, and reclaim stability.
Hope has returned. Dignity has been restored. And a new chapter has begun.
