Walk of Ages

Sunday, June 14 | Mercer Stadium, 9—6th Street, New Westminster

Check in: 9:00 | Walk 10:00am-12 noon

Join us for a heartwarming and high-energy day of community, compassion, and connection at the 3rd annual Walk of Ages on Sunday, June 14. Together, we’ll raise vital funds to prevent low-income seniors in our community from becoming homeless by providing the support they need to have stable housing.

Homelessness amongst seniors has increased 5 times over the past 10 years. Seniors in BC make up 20% of the population, but 22% of the homeless population in the last Greater Vancouver homeless count. 47% of those were experiencing homelessness for the first time as seniors. They deserve better.

Funds raised from this event provide seniors with housing navigation, advocacy, and support programs that truly change lives.

“Seniors in our community become homeless, often due to circumstances beyond their control, such as the death of a partner, loss of benefits, renovictions, landlords reclaiming units or fleeing abuse”, said Alison Silgardo, CEO, Seniors Services Society. “They are understandably overwhelmed and anxious, and not sure where to turn. We step in to not only provide comfort, but the practical support required to ensure they have permanent housing and can live independently with dignity.”

The event will feature:

  • Live music from DJ Alibaba
  • Continental brunch courtesy of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2
  • Kids craft zone
  • Photo booth from Magik Moments
  • Door prizes
  • Swag bags for all participants
  • Don’t forget to purchase tickets for our online 50/50 draw

Registration is just $10/person or $30 for a family or team of 4 people. Participants are asked to register online prior to the event. So, grab your friends and help us raise $60,000 to prevent seniors in our community from becoming homeless.
