The sun shone, the music played, and over 150 enthusiastic people took part June 8th in our second annual Walk of Ages. This is an important fundraiser for SSSBC, and we are very excited to have surpassed our goal, raising over $58,000 net (cash and in kind) for our various programs.
“We were extremely pleased with this year’s event, both in terms of revenue raised and awareness generated within the community, particularly given that this was only the second year of the event,” said SSSBC CEO Alison Silgardo. “We can’t thank you enough for stepping up for vulnerable seniors.”
The day included live music from DJ Alibaba, swag bags for all participants, grab-and-go brunch from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2, a scooter/walker decoration station, photo frame props to add to the fun, door prizes and a 50/50 draw to raise additional revenue.
We welcomed guests from all levels of government including New West councillors Ruby Campbell and Tasha Henderson, MLA Jennifer Whiteside, former and current MPs for New Westminster/Coquitlam, Peter Julian and Jake Sawatzky, BC Seniors Advocate Dan Levitt, and Speaker of the House for the provincial legislature Raj Chouhan.
Surpassing our fundraising goal would not have been possible without the support of our wonderful sponsors. We send heartfelt thanks to:
