SANTA FOR SENIORS RETURNS!
Seniors Services Society is organizing its annual Santa for Seniors program designed to provide gifts and bring smiles to seniors in our neighbourhood. The Santa for Seniors program positively impacts the community by providing holiday cheer and gift giving to those seniors who are least likely to receive a gift during the holiday season.
Last year, Seniors Services Society delivered Christmas presents to about 150 seniors who may have been isolated or alone and expects to deliver even more gifts this year.
By hand delivering the gifts, our staff and volunteers are making connections with seniors. Just that five minutes, having a chat and delivering a gift, you could be the only person they see all day. That’s a huge piece in all our programs…that contact. It might be brief, but it’s significant.
To get involved, visit one of the participating stores between November 18th and December 13th and look for a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments. Grab an ornament off the tree, shop for the gift(s) indicated on the ornament and leave the unwrapped gift(s) at the customer service desk. Seniors Services Society staff and volunteers do the rest.
There are three participating stores and we would like express our appreciation for their continued partnerships: London Drugs (555 Sixth
Street), Your Dollar Store with More (811 Carnarvon Street) and Save On Foods (Sapperton – 270 East Columbia Street).
Your participation in this heartwarming program will help touch the lives of many seniors and bring people together in a worthwhile cause over the holiday season.
